I actually don’t think we’re in disagreement on the fact that people should write more. I personally write to put my ideas out there, think through my current problems and most of all connect with other folks.

Should employees write? Yes. But should they write on the company blog or their personal blog? I am not sure. I’ve noticed this trend where I find someones writing interesting and start following them, through that I discover the place they work at and perhaps end up being a customer.

I think the only difference of opinion I had with Peter Caputa was rooted in a misunderstanding of the purpose of writing. If I am a marketer, writing about marketing on a company blog about insurance for SMB, I don’t think that would make sense. However that writing might be, better suited for a place like Medium.
